Account › Country / Region

Storefront and account region

Shadowrocket isn’t available on the mainland China storefront. If you can’t find it in the App Store, first check the country or region associated with the Apple ID you use for purchases instead of repeatedly changing your search terms. Your account region determines which storefront and apps are available to you. Your device’s physical location, display language, and purchase account region are separate settings; neither your location nor language tells you whether the app is available in your storefront.

To check your region, go to Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → View Account → Country/Region. You may need to authenticate first, and the exact labels can vary by device. Check the account used for Media & Purchases, not just the account shown at the top of Settings; they may be different. For now, confirm the current region—there’s no need to submit a change just to check it.

If you need to change your region, use Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → Country/Region, then follow the on-screen instructions. Existing subscriptions, account balance, Family Sharing settings, and payment information may affect whether you can make the change. Review the requirements shown by the system before proceeding. A region change is not guaranteed to succeed and is not a universal fix for purchase issues.

The button on this page opens Shadowrocket’s US App Store product page. The device may show storefront details or availability based on the account currently in use. Being able to view the product page in a browser does not mean your account is eligible to purchase the app. Check availability, price, and the purchase confirmation on your device in the App Store. If you see a region restriction, return to the account checks to identify where it applies.

App Store › Verify

Verify the official app: developer, icon, and app ID

Use the name to find the listing, then check all three details to verify it. Screenshots show what the app looks like when opened; they don’t verify the product’s identity.

Similar names and icons in search results can be confusing. On the product page, check the developer name, official icon, and app ID together. Don’t rely on a nickname alone to identify the app. Verifying these details before purchasing is more straightforward than comparing interfaces afterward.

The developer name matches exactly

The developer should be Shadow Launch Technology Limited. Check the developer or seller information on the product page and confirm the spelling matches exactly. A similar name or icon, or a description mentioning the same protocols, is not a substitute for this check.

The official icon matches the one shown here

Official Shadowrocket icon: a rocket with a blue-violet outline on a white background

The official icon is a rocket with a blue-violet outline on a white background, matching the icon shown here and in the site header. The icon is only one of the three details to check; verify the developer and app ID too.

The number in the product URL matches

The app ID is 932747118, and the App Store button on this page links to a URL ending in id932747118. The storefront language or currency may differ, but make sure the link points to this product. Don’t assume another app with Shadowrocket in its name is the same product.

The two screenshots on the right are official images uploaded to the App Store by the developer. Home shows Not Connected, Global Routing, Connectivity Test, and the SERVER group. Add Server shows server fields and import options. Updates, device dimensions, and display language may affect the layout, and the example status shown doesn’t mean your device is connected.

iPhone › First Launch

Get Shadowrocket on iPhone and open it for the first time

On your iPhone, verify the App Store listing, check compatibility and price, and make sure you’re using the right purchase account before following the store prompts. Refer to the App Store listing for system requirements. Don’t assume your device is compatible just because the app installs on another device. If the button says Open or shows a redownload option, check your purchase history first.

After opening the app, start by looking through Home. The connection switch at the top controls whether a connection is started. Global Routing determines whether traffic uses Config, Proxy, or Direct. Connectivity Test helps check connectivity. Installing the app does not provide server details; prepare your own subscription or server information before continuing with setup.

To add a server manually, open Add Server, choose the Type based on your existing details, and enter the relevant Host, Port, and authentication information. Required fields vary by Type, so the fields shown in a screenshot should not be treated as requirements for every protocol. If you already have a subscription, follow the guide to importing an existing subscription. For manual entry, see the Add Server instructions.

When you start a connection for the first time, the system may ask to add a VPN configuration. This authorizes a change to the device’s network settings. Confirm that the request comes from the Shadowrocket app you just opened, then follow the system prompts. This authorization is neither another purchase nor proof that the server is valid. After approving it, select one of your existing servers, check Global Routing, and test access.

If you’ve only purchased the app and haven’t prepared connection details, you can stay on Home; there’s no need to fill in fields at random just to complete the setup. If the first connection attempt fails, check the server details, current mode, and network separately. Avoid changing several things at once. Check purchase issues in the App Store and connection issues in the app and your existing configuration; these require separate troubleshooting steps.

iPad › Purchase & Setup

Installing Shadowrocket on iPad and purchase eligibility

After buying Shadowrocket with an Apple ID, you can get it from the App Store on compatible iPhone and iPad devices. Refer to the App Store listing for universal purchase availability and system requirements. If you still see a price on your iPad, check that Media & Purchases is signed in with the original purchase account and review your purchase history. Don’t confirm payment again just because the device is signed in to the same iCloud account.

The iPad’s larger display can change list widths, panel arrangements, and layouts in portrait or landscape. Interface labels such as Home, Add Server, Config, and Settings are still useful for finding your way around. Locate controls by their function rather than relying on fixed positions in a screenshot. The current app determines the actual layout and available options.

A purchase can be associated with an account, but that doesn’t mean the server list, Config, or authorization status is already set up on another device. After installation, check whether your configuration is present. If you use the app’s sync feature, verify the results instead of assuming everything transferred automatically. If you need to import the configuration again, use your own saved subscription or server details.

If you use the same details on two devices, test each one separately. A successful connection on one device only confirms that its configuration and network path worked at that time; it doesn’t verify authorization or connectivity on your iPad. After importing, check the selected server and Global Routing, then run Connectivity Test and try accessing a site to confirm the iPad’s status.

App Store › Purchased

Switching devices, reinstalling, and restoring a purchase

When switching devices or reinstalling, sign in with the Apple ID used for the original purchase. Then open App Store → Account → Purchased, find Shadowrocket, and download it again. If the app is still available, your purchase history is intact, and your device is compatible, you won’t need to pay for the client again. Depending on your system, this section may appear under Apps or another purchase-history heading; follow the labels in the current App Store.

If you can’t find the purchase, first check which account you used, then look for hidden purchases and consider whether your current storefront region affects availability. Opening the product page doesn’t mean a purchase was completed or recorded. Match the transaction status in the App Store to the account you’re using, then troubleshoot based on what you find. Don’t repeatedly attempt to pay.

Restoring the app and restoring its configuration are separate steps. Redownloading the app does not guarantee that locally stored servers, rules, or history will return. Before switching devices, note where your configuration came from and keep necessary details using a method supported by the app. These details may include access credentials; store them somewhere you control, not on a public page or in a public screenshot.

After installing the app on your new device, check whether the correct details appear in Home. If the list is empty, import your own subscription or server information. If it isn’t, verify the selected server, Config, and Global Routing instead of assuming the new device has the same status as the old one. You may need to allow the system to add a VPN configuration the first time you connect; follow the prompts on the new device.

If your details were synced, review each item after restoring them. “Sync complete” doesn’t mean “connected.” Check the Config source, subscription update results, and currently selected server on the device. Restore and test one configuration with a known purpose first, then add other items. This makes it easier to pinpoint where a problem occurs.

Whether family members can get the app through Family Sharing depends on the App Store listing, family settings, and account eligibility; don’t assume it works based on other apps. Refer to the App Store listing for availability and terms. Family Sharing and redownloading with the same purchase account are different situations, and neither means personal connection details are shared.

Purchase › One-time

Price, one-time purchase, and connection costs

Shadowrocket is a one-time purchase for the client; there’s no monthly client fee. The US reference price is $2.99, with prices shown in local currency in other storefronts. Check the App Store product page and payment confirmation for the current price, taxes, and purchase terms. The reference price here explains the purchase model and may differ from what you see at checkout.

A one-time client purchase is not a connection plan. Buying Shadowrocket gives you access to the client; it doesn’t provide a server or change the term of any subscription you already have. Check the cost, validity period, and availability of your existing connection service separately. We don’t provide, sell, or recommend nodes or subscriptions.

If the app is installed but Home doesn’t show a server, setup is not yet complete; that alone doesn’t mean the purchase failed. Likewise, importing existing details doesn’t verify that the app is genuine. Purchasing, importing, and testing connectivity address different issues: verify the product and purchase history in the store, configure the app, then test the connection.

App updates are delivered through the App Store. You can use automatic updates in your device settings or check for updates in the store. Refer to the store listing for update history, compatibility, and current purchase details. An app update and a Subscribe content update are different: the first updates the client; the second updates server details in your existing subscription. Updating one doesn’t update the other.

Once you’ve completed the checks on this page, continue with the first-time setup guide if you have your own connection details ready. For an explanation of routing modes, see the Global Routing reference. For help checking rule matches, go to the rule setup guide. Identify whether you’re dealing with a purchase or configuration issue before moving on.

Purchase and restoration FAQs

Why can’t I find Shadowrocket in the App Store?

Shadowrocket isn’t available on the mainland China storefront. The country or region associated with your Apple ID determines which storefront you see; your device’s language and physical location do not change it. Check Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → View Account → Country/Region, then review the product page for availability.

The product page opens, but the download won’t complete. What should I check first?

Read the full App Store message, then check your account region, purchase or payment status, device compatibility, available storage, and network connection. Refer to the App Store listing for system requirements. If you’ve already paid, check your purchase history before trying to buy again.

Do I have to pay again when I get a new iPhone or reinstall the app?

Sign in with the Apple ID used for the original purchase. If the app is still available and your device is compatible, download it again from App Store → Account → Purchased without paying for the client again. Restoring the app and restoring its configuration are separate steps; you’ll need to import your own subscription or server details on the new device.

Can I install Shadowrocket on my iPad if I bought it on my iPhone with the same Apple ID?

After purchasing with the same Apple ID, you can get Shadowrocket from the App Store on compatible iPhone and iPad devices. Make sure Media & Purchases is signed in with the account used for the purchase. Check the App Store listing for universal purchase availability and system requirements.

Can I get Shadowrocket on Mac, Apple TV, or Apple Vision?

The compatibility section on the same App Store product page lists Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. Check the App Store on your target device. Refer to the listing for universal purchase availability and system requirements.

What should I do if the app opens in English?

This official manual keeps interface labels such as Home, Add Server, Global Routing, Config, and Connectivity Test in English. Use the labels to find the right screen, then read the explanations. The app and device settings determine the display language and available language options; an English interface does not verify that the app is genuine.
